Tschechien: Ehemaliger Ku-Klux-Klan-Chef David Duke plant erneut Tschechien-Reise

The exact date of his visit is not known as yet, but it is supposed that he will arrive in the latter half of January, Vavra said. “He has two reasons for his visit to the Czech Republic. First, he will demand that the (Czech) state give him a satisfaction for the detention and accusation for which [he says] the police had no reason. Second, he has been embarrassed about that about a half of the people who saw him in April are in prison,” Tyden.cz quotes Vavra as saying.

Vavra would not say what compensation Duke will seek. “According to the state attorney’s conclusions no evidence was submitted during the preliminary proceedings that would incriminate the accused Duke of having been involved in the criminal act. There was no other possibility but to halt the prosecution,” Duke’s defence counsel Klara Slamova said then.

The police will not prevent Duke from arriving in the Czech Republic. “We cannot prevent his arrival. If he does arrive, we will definitely be monitoring his activities to see whether they may be unlawful,” the server quotes criminal police spokeswoman Pavla Kopecka as saying.

During his April visit Duke was to make a lecture for Charles University students, but the school did not sanction the event. His supporters, mainly from among the extreme right, therefore planned other lectures in Prague and Brno, but he eventually did not make them because he was detained.

This time, Duke will not probably publicly preach his opinions, Tyden.cz writes. “He will simply arrive, and what will be happening, this is yet to be seen. He may again be detained, which would be only good because it will be symbolical,” Vavra said.

The information about the halting of Duke’s criminal prosecution in the Czech Republic was carried by Novinky.cz server in September.
